An Autumn Wardrobe Wishlist
Featuring Rohé, Cos, St Agni, Wales Bonner and more.
I’m not entirely convinced by anyone living in the northern hemisphere who says their favourite season is autumn. In the UK especially, where we’re shrouded in grey 300 days of the year, life is just undeniably more joyful in the summer. Autumn’s only saving grace, in my view, is that the clothes are always better – plus you get to layer more of them on. There’s also something about dark evenings that feels more glamorous and mischievous and makes me want to get properly dressed up.
As August now wraps up, I thought it would be the perfect time to put together an edit of autumnal pieces that will make you feel a bit less mournful about the shorter, colder days ahead: sleek rain coats, knee-high boots, fuzzy scarves, lots of cashmere. As with my old newsletter, I don’t subscribe to the unofficial rule in magazines that you can’t feature a brand more than once in a product roundup, so there are a few repeats (lots of St Agni and Rohé and Cos, because they’re consistently great). And if there’s anything you especially love or end up buying, let me know over email or in the comments below.
Coats
Rains Curve Jacket There’s no better salve for damp days than chic rain gear. I’d go as far to say it’s essential if you live in London. This hooded coat in oxblood from the aptly named Rains is gorgeous – although this glossy green A-line one caught my eye too. £109
Studio Nicholson Holin Coated Cotton Coat I can only assume Studio Nicholson has hired new PR because after 15 years of being highly underrated, it’s never been buzzier. There are plenty of great coats on their site this season, but I especially love the silhouette and the cuffs on this one. £650
Rohé Oversized Trench Coat I’ve become completely obsessed with Rohé since buying this knitted top for a steep discount from Liberty last year. If money were no object, I’d swap my current trench coat for theirs – a generous lapel is so luxurious. £1,250
Frankie Shop Gaia Double-Breasted Coat You could layer pretty much anything under this coat from Frankie Shop and look put-together. €495
Frankie Shop Linate Short Trench Another winner from the Frankie Shop: this funnel-neck trench-slash-parka. €299
Jackets
Cos Boxy Wool Jacket This is perfect for in-between-y autumn weather. Olive is also one of those colours that plays nicely alongside neutrals and livens them up a bit. £129
Malene Birger Alisandra Trench Jacket The wide sleeves on this trench jacket are what make it so fabulous. £500
Our Legacy Woven Jacket If I had to pick one item from this list that I want more than anything – based on what my wardrobe needs right now – it would be this fitted zip-up jacket from Our Legacy. £330
Nanushka Maxe Double Wool Jacket A couple years ago I met a very chic woman at a Frieze party who was wearing this jacket-jumper hybrid from Nanushka and it’s been on my wishlist ever since. £525
Wales Bonner Mantra Track Top My Wales Bonner track jacket is my most-worn item, so financially it makes sense to buy another. £595
Everyday Tops
Rohé Silk Gilet Shirt This silk shirt is supposedly designed to be worn multiple ways but I think it looks best with the arms through the sleeves and belted for a cinched waist. £580
Cos Draped Merino Wool V-Neck Jumper I’m obsessed with the neckline of this Cos jumper. £95

Cos’s brushed-cashmere waistcoat looks especially chic when layered with the matching cardigan. St Agni Fine Line Long Sleeve Top The contrast red piping makes this ten times more interesting than your average plain white tee. £239
Cos Brushed-Cashmere Waistcoat I’d wear this like a shirt, half unbuttoned. Maybe with the matching cardigan tied over the shoulders as above. £139
Going-Out Tops
St Agni Cashmere Blend Top This merino wool and cashmere turtleneck would look so chic under any of the jackets above. £245
Wales Bonner x Adidas Knit Tee I feel like this navy mesh tee would be fabulous for layering over a tank top for a night out. £180
Proenza Schouler Paloma Top There’s plenty to love about this semi-sheer top from Proenza: the raised stripes, the boat neckline, the chocolate-brown hue (my favourite). £275
Rohé Asymmetrical Punto Milano Knitted Top Knitwear doesn’t get much sexier than this asymmetric off-the-shoulder top from Rohé. £300
Trousers & Skirts
WNU Rampling Tencel Satin Trousers The best women’s shirtmaker in the world also does trousers. I’m already a fan of their Tencel pieces, and I love the satin finish on these. £195
Wales Bonner Mantra Track Pants If you’re already buying a Wales Bonner track jacket and are tempted / rich enough to get the trousers to match, I’d go for it. I’ve got a full set (bought with a huge discount when I was working at Mr Porter) and it’s my go-to for errands, facials, the airport. £550
Courrèges Coated Mini Skirt If there’s one brand I want to be dressed in head-to-toe for nights out, it’s Courrèges. I’d pair this skirt with semi-sheer tights and knee-high boots. £460

I want this entire look from Rejina Pyo now. Frame Slim Palazzo Jeans It’s insane that I don’t own black jeans (or blue ones). I’m tempted to right that wrong with this pair from Frame that I stopped myself from buying in Selfridges a few months ago. £280
Rejina Pyo Sonia Trousers I love the way that Rejina Pyo plays with proportion and silhouette while still creating clothes that feel grown-up. These trousers are only available in a few sizes in both olive and slate (above), but here’s hoping they restock soon. £375
Shoes
Paris Texas Lavina Knee Boots There’s a gap in my wardrobe for a pair of knee-high boots and I’d like it to be filled by these from Paris Texas. £785
Adidas Japan Trainers For day-to-day trainers, I’m team Adidas over Nike – their archive styles especially are just a bit more polished. Next on my list is the Japan. £100
Toteme Lizard-Embossed Stiletto Slingbacks I’ll take a nineties-style slingback over a classic pump any day. These from Toteme have been on my wishlist forever. £530
Rejina Pyo Ruched Leather Loafer Rejina Pyo’s ruched loafers happen to be a very good dupe for The Row. £325
MF Pen Black Seminar Loafers I first came across MF Pen while working at Mr Porter, and I was very happy to discover they do womenswear too. These heeled loafers are just the right amount of chunky. £340
Adidas Samba OG Crochet Trainers The Samba was basically declared dead a year ago, but I think this crochet pair in sage green has brought it back to life. £100
Rejina Pyo Slouchy Knee High Boot These crinkled boots from Rejina Pyo would look really hot peeking out from under a midi skirt. £495
Bags
Kassl Editions Cowhair Tote Dutch brand Kassl Editions is mostly known for its rubber coats, but it’s this ginormous and slightly wacky cow-hide tote bag that caught my eye. I’m obsessed. £850
Cos Hand-Woven Tote Bag Call it the Dragon Diffusion-slash-Bottega effect but woven handbags have never been buzzier. The east-west shape is also very now. £269
St Agni Slim Wonton Tote in Coffee The winged silhouette of this St Agni tote is reminiscent of the newly resurrected Celine Phantom, but for a fraction of the price. £379
Accessories & Jewellery
Acne Fringe Wool Scarf Acne makes the best scarves, and I love a pop of white for autumn-winter. £170
Tilly Sveas Fine Gold Lariat Necklace This T-bar lariat necklace layered under a half-buttoned shirt would look effortlessly sexy. £220
London Undercover Whangee Telescope Umbrella I used to own this umbrella until I checked it into a Soho House cloakroom and never got it back. It’s gone up quite a bit in price since I bought it, which has always put me off repurchasing, but I think it’s time to accept there’s nothing quite like it on the market. £89
Agmes Joy Brooch The New York-based made-to-order jewellery brand Agmes has convinced me that brooches are cool and we should all be wearing them. £420
Rosantica Beaded Necklace Throw this statement beaded necklace on for evening and you’re instantly the most glamorous woman in the room. £535
Eliou Wren Earrings Éliou is one of my favourite jewellery brands for adding personality to smart outfits. They take nautical motifs such as shells and pearls and make them feel edgy. Their prices aren’t completely insane either. £144
Cos Brushed Cashmere Triangle Scarf I’m not sure I’d have been sold on this scarf from Cos until I saw how they styled it on the website (above). So chic. £119
Loulou de Saison Morgan Pony-Effect Belt I’ve never fancied a belt this much. £230
Toteme Alpaca Knit Beanie It’s not quite beanie weather yet, but once it is I’d be happy to ride it out in Toteme. £150
